Parent Guide to Google Classroom
I hope this letter finds you and your families well.
As we continue with our remote teaching and learning we are striving to continue to provide an outstanding education for our students.
If you log on to your child’s student classes on google drive, you will see how, from April to now, our lessons have evolved. We are now setting less stand-alone tasks and are ‘chunking’ lessons to enable students time to complete work. This involves students doing more work away from the screen. In addition, you will also start to hear the voices of our teachers talking to students through narrated PowerPoints or videos.
We are also improving our contact with you. During the next week we will connect you to your child’s google account. By linking your email address to the google classrooms, we will send you notifications of work set and due dates for any assignment set. This function will also give teachers the ability to contact you if work needs updating or completing.
We are very excited about this latest development in our online learning as it gives you the ability to monitor and support your child. We will continue to use this platform when we return to school to set pre-learning tasks and homework.
There is a full guide to setting up your notifications on the school website – You can decide the frequency with which you wish to be notified.
