Key Stage 3 (Year 7-9)
Based on Stepney Green City Farm – Domestic Birds
Basic design theory – focusing on balance and composition, the importance of accuracy, using rulers, sharp pencils, labelling, and annotations, developing ideas through the use of choice of secondary images, text arrangement styles, the importance of drafts when following a design brief, colour and typography skills in Photoshop, working with Layers in Photoshop to create finished outcomes
Based on Stepney Green City Farm – Bees and Honey
Analysing the work of designers and existing products, design elements, text arrangement styles, developing a design specification in response to client design brief and product analysis, developing skills in drafts & refine ideas based analysis & research relating to the natural – cultural – architectural – historical dynamics of the themed area, developing Photoshop skills to complete a CD cover design.
Based on Stepney Green City Farm – Inner-city garden
Design theory including composition, selection, editing, developing client awareness and how to communicate initial ideas by working through a series of drafts based on a design, knowledge and understanding of properties of applying colour through the use of water paints, using digital images as primary sources, how images are enhanced by the use of typography, contextual resources to design and develop work, develop knowledge of Photoshop.
Key Stage 4 (Year 10-11)
Theme: Google Logo Design project until January 31st 2018
Designing a logo, exploring a theme to design a Google logo,observational drawing skills, knowledge of at least four different artists, digital photography, Lino Print, acrylic painting, 3D clay work dry point printing and using Photoshop.
Key Stage 5 (Year 12-13)
Working in 2D – Photography (Digital and Film), Drawing (Pen, Pencil and Charcoal), Painting (Oil, Acrylic, Gouache, Ink and Watercolour, Printmaking (Lino-cut, Etching and Relief Printing), Words/Typography (Poetry, Text works),Photoshop
3D media – Clay, Wire / chicken wire, Modroc, Mixed media (Collage, Assemblage)
Skills using Colour, typography and composition, observational drawings of objects and scenes, skills in using Photoshop, knowledge of different artists.
Extra Curricular/Additional Information
Year 11 students have extension class once every two weeks.
