Letter from the headteacher

Dear parents / carers,

As we approach the end of the academic year, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the support you have given both to your child and to the school.

Renaming process

The Governors are currently involved in a process for renaming our school.

The Governors have a small working party which has met on a number of occasions. The Full Governing Body will meet during the week of 13th July to decide on and confirm the new name for the school. I have always been clear that it is important we have a name as soon as is reasonably possible so that the school can put all the necessary rebranding in place for September. As you will no doubt appreciate, this will be a considerable task along with all the other preparations influenced by an ever-changing situation due to the pandemic.

Uniform changes

As I said to you earlier this term, I will ensure that no family suffers in any way financially due to our name change and subsequent uniform change. There will be no change to our school colours and blazers will be updated with a new patch for the pocket containing our new school name and logo.

We will swap the existing jumpers and PE kit for a new plain jumper and kit. I will ensure that more detail about this will be sent out to you soon.

Attendance

From September, the expectation from the government is that all students attend school. As already outlined, we have made extensive plans to ensure that the school is safe for all from the start of the new year.

Regular attendance at school is vital to help children achieve and get the best possible start in life.  Children who frequently miss school often fall behind and there is a strong link between good school attendance and achieving good results. Significant work has gone into planning our curriculum from September and we will be using funding from government to support catch up work.

On behalf of the whole school community, I would like to thank them for their contribution to school life and wish each of them continued happiness and success.

I will be writing to you all again in the coming week with details about the return to school in September and with news about the school name.
