Dear Parent/Carer,

I hope you and your family are well during these unprecedented times.

Please find a GCSE Drama Timeline attached to support for child’s learning.  We hope this will help support and guide your child to ensure that they make progress they need, despite being physically away from the classroom. I have put this on google classroom but I thought you may want a copy to follow their progress. However, there are a couple of things that your child must do

They must

  1. Watch ‘A Monster Calls’. An Old Vic Theatre production. This is compulsory viewing available from 5th June to 11th June online. I will post details about this on classroom.
  2. Be present for a live audio lesson at Tues 2nd and Wed 3rd June Part 1 and 2 at 2pm for a Performance assessment of Monologues. This is to support progress of C2 text in performance.

Later this term, they will be assessed on C3 the Crucible and A Monster Calls and be given a formal mock.

In July we will invite parents and students to a ‘Progress Review Feedback session’ to ascertain your child’s progress vs their target grade and look at their areas for development.  The ‘Progress Review Feedback session’ will cover all three areas of their GCSE Drama Exam- Devising C1, Text in Performance C2 and Theatre Makers in Practice C3.

I hope the review will support them going into year 11 and identify any gaps in their knowledge, performance or analytical and evaluative skills, during these challenging times.

Finally, I do not want them or you to worry about GCSE Drama next year, as with hard work and perseverance they will be successful.  Please feel free to contact either Ms Krisiloff or myself if you have any concerns or questions.

Until then stay safe and I hope to see your child soon.

Yours sincerely,

Linda Hall
