July 2020

Dear parents / carers,

As we approach the end of a busy and unusual academic year, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the support you have given both to your child and to the school during these unprecedented times. We will all return in September with a number of changes and with new routines. As a community we will work together to ensure that everyone is safe, happy and supported.

End of Academic Year Arrangements

On Friday 17th July those students who are currently attending school will be dismissed at midday. If you are collecting your child, please be aware of this earlier end to the day.

Google Classroom

We have made great progress in the setting of work online and we are pleased with the way that students have engaged with this new way of working. However, it is essential that students catch up with any outstanding work on Google Classroom over the summer in order to make a successful start to the new term. All classroom codes can be found on the school website – https://www.stepneyallsaints.school/for-students/google-classroom/

GCSE and A level results days

We take great pride in the achievements of our students in the national summer examinations every year. The level of achievement at GCSE has continued to improve due to the professionalism of our staff, the application of our students and the support of parents.

A Level Results Day is on Thursday 13th August 2020, and GCSE Results Day is on Thursday the 20th August. The enrolment process to sixth form will be slightly different this year, with the majority of enrolment taking place online and via phone calls; some students will however be asked to come in following their phone call.

Further details regarding the arrangements for GCSE and A Level results day and enrolment will be emailed and published on our school website in the coming weeks.

New School Name and School Uniform

The Governing Body has now agreed a new name for the school. There is now however a legal process to pursue whereby the Cass Foundation and the London Diocesan Board for Schools must formally agree the new name. Once this has been completed I will write to you to confirm our new name. This should be during the first week of August. We will begin work immediately, once the new name has been confirmed, to create a new school logo and to ensure that all branding is in line with the new name in time for our return in September.

As I have mentioned, we do not want parents to incur any costs from the changing of the school name. With regard to the uniform, we advise that parents purchase only non-branded items on the school uniform list. Patches will be supplied to cover up the old school name and logo on the blazer and all other branded uniform pieces that have already been purchased.

Start of Academic Year Arrangements

From September all students will return to school. We have been working hard on plans to ensure that we are all working in a safe environment. To this end we are putting together videos for each year group so that students can see how the school will now be organised to ensure that we are COVID safe. We have also been working on an extensive risk assessment to ensure that we do all that we can as a school to minimise the risk to all of the school community.

The videos will be circulated in August to outline everything in preparation for the start of term.

The new school year will begin with a registration and induction day for all students. This is to help familiarise students with changes to the school site and routines for the school day. Each year group will have a specific day for this induction:

Thursday 3rd September – Year 7, 9, 12

Friday 4th September – Year 8, 10, 11, 13

Entry and Exit:

Year 8 and 9 will enter and exit the school via the Copley street gate

Year 7 and 11 will enter and exit via the Bromley street gate

Year 10 and 12 will enter and exit via the Stepney Way gate

Year 13 will enter and exit via the reception.

Further details about these days will be provided in the videos circulated in August.

I would like to thank you all again for your continued support and wish all of the school community a safe, restful and enjoyable summer. I look forward to seeing you all again in September, hopefully in better circumstances.

Yours sincerely,

Paul Woods
