Madrid trip 2012
Spanish trip to Madrid (6th February – 10th February, 2012)
Just before February half term a group of year 12 and year 10 students went on a study visit to Madrid, the capital city of Spain.
We were very lucky as the weather was fantastic during our stay and we were able to take part in many cultural activities. We visited museums such as ‘Museo Nacional del Prado’ and ‘Museo de Arte Contemporaneo Reina Sofia’ (which is named after the Spanish Queen). We also visited the ‘Palacio Real’ which is where the Spanish kings used to live. We managed to visit 20 of the 3000 stunning rooms that it has!
We also had some time to go bowling, we had some delicious Spanish food, we even visited the famous and legendary ‘Santiago Bernabeu’ (Real Madrid FC’s stadium) and went shopping. It is fair to say that this was a very enjoyable experience for everyone and that even the Spanish lessons that we had in the morning were fun.
This is what some of the students had to say about this trip:
‘I enjoyed the trip so much I was upset about leaving. Madrid is a beautiful city and I am very pleased with the activities organised on this trip: I loved the stadium, museums and "Topolinos" , the best restaurant in Spain! I will keep these memories for a long time and words cannot say how much I thank everyone involved, this was the greatest experience.’
‘I enjoyed all of it I was with my friends got to know others are also met new people. The activities were very fun it was a whole new experience. The 'Reina Sofia' was very fun and we were lucky enough to see the Modern Art masterpiece of Picasso, ‘El Guernica’. I've got to try new food see the city and even have a joke with the teachers. I would like to thank those that have put the time and effort into making this trip possible, including the funders Barclays Bank, the school organisers, the teachers and those that meet us and helped us in Spain as without them this trip could not have been possible.’
‘I enjoyed the various activities we did in Spain such as bowling and visiting museums and monuments. I would rate this trip 10 out of 10 as it was a very exciting time and I enjoyed every minute of it.’
